Hello
I just acquired a 1995 Jaguar XJS and am excited about learning about it, enjoying it and keeping it alive. Havine a hobbyist Porsche background, the Jag is a bit different in design and assembly techniques. I look forward to benefitting from the collective knowledge and experience of the forum members and hope to be able to contribute where I can.

Hello from me - now then being a 95' it's one of the last, so should be an excellent vintage, is it a 6 or a 12 cylinder? There are a number of Porsche guys on here that say exactly the same, so plenty to chat about

welcome aboard, good to have you here with us

Thanks.
Main thing is you have got the best engine Jaguar ever made, so one up straightaway. Second thing is this is a very late XJS with all the improvements made by Ford, so will prove a good proposition, I think. However, as a car getting on for 18 years old you will likely find a few things need fixing. These cars are totally different to Porsche cars, (like chalk and cheese), so I hope you like it.
I noticed very quickly that the assembly design is very different from the Porsches I am familiar with (928 and 944). The front bumper blades were out of wack when I bought it from a bump performed by the previous owner. It took me a great while to figure out how to disassemble the bumper so I could put everything back in its proper place. On 944s, you just take out two bolts and disconnect the turn signals. The XJS had a lot of hard to reach nuts and bolts with some requiring a wrench on both ends to loosen.
But, I enjoy learning about designs and the care and feeding and get great satisfaction in fixing and improving. So far, the Jag is very enjoyable and very different from the 928s and 944s that I have had. I just hope it doesn't bite me too bad in the future.
