Hello to all, new member here
Good afternoon everyone,
I am a new member based in Mississippi. Currently on the hunt for an 05-09 XJ (350/358). I have owned a few unique cars over the years (RX8, Audi RS6) and ridden a few cool motorcycles (Ducati and Aprilia mostly) but made the mistake almost a decade ago to turn my back on high maintenance soul-stirrers and embrace my practical side. So, I bought a 4Runner in 2014. Great truck...reliable truck...the 'covered wagon' of automobiles. Never did anything wrong but it also never does anything to make me excited to be in it. It is a soul-less ride with no power, poor ride quality, high cabin noise levels and cheap interior. And yet it has retained an insane amount of value! So, I'm working to sell the 4runner and get back to my roots with a looker that has some uniqueness and a whole lot of soul.
At any rate, using the forum to brush up on things to look out for when buying and eventually how to diagnose/repair the inevitable issues. And, with some luck, find a good example which was well looked after in the marketplace.
Thanks all. Looking forward to learning from everyone.
Respectfully,
Tom

Welcome to the forums Tom,
Generally speaking, provenance is crucial with any used Jaguar. Evidence of regular scheduled maintenance and ideally a fat file of bills to support it. Be prepared to travel and look at several. Interior trim is becoming hard to source so anything missing, broken, scratched or torn could be difficult to repair or replace. Modern Jaguars are a computer on wheels - look carefully into any electrical or electronic issues as they can often be alarmingly expensive to fix.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 & 358 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-midwest-39/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums and good luck finding the best XJ.

Hello, Tom,
I personally think life is Way too short to drive Boring vehicles (although like you, I have driven a couple). But looking at the sheer number of BORING vehicles on the road today, we are in the vast minority.
I wish you success in your quest for something that stirs your soul.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
