Default Hello All - Prospective Owner

Hi All,

I apologize ahead of time for the long post and introduction.

I've never owned a Jaguar but have been in deep lust since I was about 6 years old and had a Matchbox car of a blue XJS. Then I was in the Navy and fell in love with the XJ6. Fast forward 20 years (from the Navy) and I am in the market for a new/different car. Every opportunity that I've had to buy a "dream" car always ended with me buying a brand new "safe" or "reliable" car in my price range. So... I'm at the point now where my daughter is about to graduate high school and I'm going to give her my 2007 Hyundai Sonata, the "safe" and "reliable" pick last time. I'd like this time to be different and maybe spoil myself a little. I think I deserve it! Ideally I want to stay under $35K.

I've spent the last month pouring over the BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, Lexus, and this forum. I believe that the BMW and Mercedes are out due to what looks like a lousy car after 80K miles. That said - I am strongly considering the following and hopefully you all can give me a hand or some advice. I looks like many of you own, or have owned, the top-of-the-line luxury/sport cars out there. Aside from a Lincoln Navigator(worse vehicle on the planet) and Continental, I have zero experience in high-end vehicles. Any insight or real-world experience comparing these would be a huge help. This car will likely be my daily driver (I may get a beater car anyway though). I do all of my own maintenance on everything.

Here is what I am considering:
- 2008-ish XJ8 Super 8
- 2008-ish Lexus 460L
-2005 Porsche 911 (I know, completely different type of vehicle but it's stuck in my head too!)
- BMW 750iL - not on the list now due to what looks like high maintenance in relation to the others.

I moved from Pennsylvania to Florida so now I don't have to worry about winter. Any information or advice in trying to compare these cars would be GREATLY appreciated. I thank you for your time and absolutely love the forum here. You folks seem like really down-to-earth great people.
