Hello...can anyone help please
I have a newish XF and an old XK8.
I would like to buy a new XFR so want to try and sell the XK.
It is a 1997 version, convertible, aubergine, with 24,500 genuine miles and FSH.
In incredibly good condition, one lady owner before me (who I knew), Harmon Sound System, recently undersealed.
Can anyone give me an idea of what to ask for this please?
I have seen such a wide variation on various websites and I can't really plan the way forward until I know what I might get!
many thanks

Welcome to the forum philcollins,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
The most desirable XK8 for any particular model year is a one owner, low mileage convertible with main dealer FSH. As you are the second owner, it places your vehicle in the almost ideal position.
That unfortunately is where the good news ends. As you have probably already seen, there's a large number available in the UK ranging between £4K and £7K and many potential buyers are put off by the legacy of Nikasil cylinder bores, plastic tensioners and unreliable transmissions on early models.
It depends on how quickly you want a sale and how realistically you price it. Approaching winter in the UK is not the best time to sell a convertible but an enthusiast won't be deterred by that, will travel and pay more for a good example. I still think somewhere in the £5K-£6K range is probably as much as is achievable.
Follow this link XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK Region forum by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in this country. Members may even be searching for an XK8 or know someone who is.
Good luck and enjoy the forums.
Graham
