Default Hello everyone

Hey everybody,
My name is Stephen and I just bought a mechanic special 2002 X Type out of Atlanta. It needed a little more love than I was expecting when I went to go look at it. The guy gave me a great deal so I bought it anyway. I look forward to getting it back to the condition it needs to be in.

Thanks everyone !!!
And thanks Graham for fixing my mess up.

I knew it had a check engine light on when I bought it and it had a dead miss. Scanner said cylinder #6. I went ahead and ordered a COP and picked up almost everything today for a good tune up.

The things I know I need to address. It needs a headliner, the boot open warning light stays on, brake lights stay on, drivers seat doesn't adjust. The rear drivers side door panel is loose, they spilled something on the rear seat bottom and it ate the leather so I will need a new one of those. The boot seal is bad. Going to have the front disc's turned since there is some pulsing while stopping. Maybe a cat but that's to be determined after I get the miss out of it.

The body is in great condition and it has new tires. Even with the engine skip the transmission seems to working correctly. After getting up to 70 and letting off the throttle it rode really good. It needs a really good cleaning inside and a good wash and wax on the outside. I am a mechanic so the repairs don't scare me.

I looked on here before I bought it and have already learned a ton about this car already. Thanks again and you on the forum!!

Stephen,

Good to hear you found useful information on the forum to help with the buying decision.

Apart from the damaged leather there's nothing too serious ($$$!) on the to do list. If you can't source a good used seat base in the US, one of the specialist Jaguar breakers in the UK should be able to help. Shipping the leather only wouldn't be too costly.

Graham
