Hello, my name is Gary and I finally bought my first Jaguar, a 2001 xj8 vanden plas with 94k miles. I figured I would run in to some difficultys at some point and I found this forum with a lot of great tips and info and looking forward to learning.

I just purchased my first Jaguar a 1998 XJ8 with 51000 miles at auction in December. Was apprehensive having seen so many negatives but got it for a fair price and it is in great shape. Replaced the front upper shock mounts because of visible degradation. It was to be the wife and mine emergency vehicle but is just so fun to drive we find ourselves fighting over the keys.
Have already learned a lot from this forum and I appreciate all those that have posted.

Well done, Gary, and welcome to the forum! My daughter lives in your area. She has a 2006 XJ8 Vanden Plas in dark blue. She bought it when it was nearly new and now has a bit over 100K miles on it. It's been very good to her. I hope yours will be good to you, too! I live in Mendocino County and drive a black 2006 XK8 coupe. You might see me around occasionally.
