Default Hello Forum

Earlier this summer I purchased my first Jag an '00 XK8 convertible and have been working through a series of electrical issues. The one I have a question on is an intermittent ABS / Traction Control error popping up. I finally brought the Jag into my local dealer and they diagnosed the problem to be coming from the control module, however, they can only replace the entire unit at a cost of >$3.5K. My question is, can I just replace the electronics module myself providing I get a like part ( same year within s/n range ) without a need for reprogramming? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks
Kurt

Welcome to the forum Kurt,

This is quite a regular issue. Follow Norri's link to the XK8/XKR section for help and advice. I can safely predict the fix will come in well below $3.5K.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Hope the issues are soon resolved. Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Thanks Norri
Thanks for the information as I'm learning my way through the website. I'll certainly do some searching and checkout what the forum has done in the past. Hate to reinvent the wheel.
Thanks
Kurt

Welcome to the forum, Kurt: and greetings from the Midwest Region. I'm sure you'll find a number of pointers and ideas in the XK8 section. One of the things I hadn't realized when I purchased my first Jag was how much of a diagnostic 'hobby' I had also bought into! Thank goodness for sites like this to help the process along.

cheers!
Scott

Default ABS Problem

I've checked what others have seen and recommended and this seems to be a very popular problem. The error code on my Jag is C1095 which was described to me as "the kiss of death" by the tech. The replacement part number for my vin is JLM21323. I've checked the web and can't find any site that handles just the module. I'm hoping that once I get the electronic module it will be just a matter of "Plug and Pray" and no reprogramming will be required.

Thanks Jim for the welcome and the information on the regional postings. Over the weekend I moved the Jag to Northern WI for Winter hibernation. Still haven't covered it yet just in case we run into some nice Fall weather.
