Thumbs up Hello! My first ever car (1997 XJ6 Sport) needs some love

Hello all

not one for big long stories about myself, but my 1997 XJ6 Sport (X300, AJ16 engine) has been misfiring and generally needs some tender loving care, which I am trying to give it.
I registered here to get help and advice on diagnostic and repair jobs, and maybe I'll be lucky enough to be able to pass on some little nuggets of wisdom to someone else!

I work as an engineer in the automotive industry, but not in a job where I actually tinker with technical parts or anything like that, so while I am reasonably knowledgable on the theory of how most of my car works, when it comes to doing real work on it, I am practically a novice!

Look forward to learning!

Lovely car, I would go to get the codes from the car (check engine codes). But before that go to the New Member Area - https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...-intro-must-5/ then once you have your account set up.
Go to https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/

That's a real nice color, I don't think that I ever seen one that color around here. Good luck on your project. It'll be a great car when it's sorted out.

Hi thank you Objak and all very welcoming. Will be onto the forum for my "new" XJ6 which has a cold start problem. However a Jag Mechanic (luckily friend) is looking at it Dec 10 and hopefully its something simple (always never) he thinks it might be a ?sensor ?seal in fuel system. So will keep you posted of fix cheers L

Why have you replied to an Intro by Objak Ardhow who has not been on the forum for over four years?
