Default Hello from a new guy here!

Hello and thank you for letting me become a part of this group and learning from you.
I am a new owner of a 1988 XJS H&E Convertible... I know the issues, and mine has them since it has not been run since 1999. I do know it was sold originally in Tuscon, AZ and that owner put it up on the Barrett Jackson auction in 1994 where the guy I got it from purchased it. Needless to say, it is a rust-free AZ car, it did come with new tires (that was a plus), but a ton of varnish in the fuel tanks that is older than my son. the PO didn't want to sell it after his health went down hill, so he kept it covered in the garage.. but I can tell you the AZ heat hates leather if not taken care of. Seriously, all in all the seats need to be re-done, but the rest is great including the top.
I will attach a few photos here on the day I picked it up.
I do have one question so far.. I do have the fuel tanks removes and once cleaned up they were in surprisingly good shape... except the in-tank pump. Does anyone know the specs on that? I ordered one to fix it since it was just a blob, worried about generating heat I went with a 120LPH flowrate, should be way more than enough and only 5W of power draw. any input will be great. I will cleaning and rebuilding the injectors next week and hopefully after new oil and coolant change-out, will fire this kitten up next weekend!
I may even keep the phone, kinda nostalgic. but it does take up a lot of space...

Welcome.

That is a real find, and will tidy up just fine.

Dont forget ALL the fuel hoses, they will be toast for sure. The last thing you want is an engine fire from an Injector hose leaking.

I am on that fuel hose thing. Just about finished with the three tanks and all the plumbing. Next week the front end gets it will fresh hoses, re-worked injectors. I have read too many stories of fuel fires (and lived thru one on an MG many years ago..) I found out that the P.O. had a "mechanic" try to help him get it running earlier but got fired... under the hood is a bigger nightmare than even the engineers planned. What vacuum hoses that were not removed or laying around in the engine compartment are brittle and broken. So, my game plan is fuel>vacuum>cooling (with a good flush to boot. ) and of course brake lines. that should in a nutshell take care of the engine and safety factors considering what happens to rubber in the Arizona desert. from there I will go to drive-ability.. ie mounts, bushings, etc. by then (I hope) mechanically I should be OK as a daily driver.. then move on to cosmetics.. I did not expect this to be an overnight thing!

I know you've already posted 'New guy with vacuum hose' thread in XJS forum but you should use this one to start another thread there on your progress with the various issues. Other members will be interested to follow it and will almost certainly be able to offer relevant advice along the way.
