Howdy all,


Bought a 1999 XK8 today and first thing I learned is that it missing a few things or need replacing. It missing a radiator overflow hose to reservoir, and needs replacement interior mirror, Thermostat, and water pump.


So I be looking for any an all help in these areas first.

Are you sure you're missing a hose? It was deleted early in the production of XK8.

Follow Norri's link in post #2 to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Congratulations on the new Jag,

it's #1 on my list for this winter

Graham is right about the hose, that's why he's super.

Get to know the Forum Sponsors, I've had very good luck with SNG Barratt,

Think about swapping the thermostat housing for one of the aluminum replacements. Search for helpful hints removing the old one. Good time to do it since you will be draining the coolant for the water pump. Many of your hoses will be 17 years old and time to replace.

If swapping the secondary cam chain tensioners isn't on your list. put it there. should be #1

One of the Critical issues in buying the car was that the Secondary timing chain tensioners were replaced a few years ago. Therefore, that item off the upgrade list.


Weather tomorrow is going to be nasty so working this weekend. will check back in a few.
