Hello new member
Hey. I'm ray. have an XJSC and an XJ6VDP
'home of the free, land of the brave..no, just South of the 49'th
my mechanic recently suggested i reconsider my "servicing" of my XJS to be considered "restoration"... hmmm it's 24, and has had nothing but maintenance.
my VDP is 18, super sweet and only mildly annoying (to follow)
my XKE i crashed - i'm sure the serial number is out there somewhere
anyway, i need to access secret info contained in this website, so please bear with me!

i see it's tow weeks since i signed in, thanks for the kind words Members, and recognition Mr Moderator.
much water has passed under the bridge so to speak, and i apologize for not having posted sooner. yes, I am a boater, and we had a spell of what is called "indian summer" here that lasted until this past Wednesday, with temps in the sixties and seventies. needless to say, top down, feet up and enjoy while it lasted. at this point the SeaRay is 'in the barn, 'ragtop is in the garage, and the first rain in two months is swelling the shingles on my roof.
there is also a new (human type) lady in my life, and sorry, (relationship) came first. that said, apologies given. here we go.
I have taken a few pics of my Jags and will post shortly. i'm new to this sort of site, and am learning my navigation techniques as i go, so bear with me.
my XJS has had few problems, i am the second owner and early on met the original purchaser by chance, who advised it had (thankfully) never been driven in Winter, and always garaged. he also said the only work it had ever had done was fluids and one set of 'pads, which delighted me. it DID however, come with a nasty oil leak which i have yet to fix, as a few mechanics have told me requires the engine being pulled. not likely. recently, however, i have secured a new mechanic who advised not so. we will see. it also had a lovely aroma of gasoline in the (boot), which may or may not have been entirely cured by repairing the fuel tank. hard to say, it still smells somewhat, but the ridiculous complexity of the delivery system makes it difficult to be sure.
NOW my VDP is another matter. i purchased it from the second owner, who advised he wanted a "sportier" model. it was a true 'little old lady" car, with 47kKm on the clock at age 15 years. apparently new, but for a couple scratches. i was a little suspect, in that there was a shop invoice listing among other (minor) things, "locate and repair module" or something to that effect.
TWO years later, i love the dam thing, and have learned to put up with a couple glitches, but after a recent trip a really annoying one popped up, hence my jointing the "circle" for some input from my "learned friends".
OK, the driver's seat does not automatically move in and out of place properly. no biggie, it's in the right place. well, the steering wheel does not always drop automatically (some times). i can handle that. the door mirror sometimes bows down the pavement... well not so bad.
HOWEVER. NOW the hazard flashers will, after an hour or two driving, come on by themselves, and do so over and over again. on the first occasion, the alarm system also decided to set it self off spontaneously and repeatedly.
SO, after doing a bit of online research, i decided to and was obliged to disconnect the battery. i left it off for a week, and when it was reattached certain things changed. (thank god) the alarm seems to have sorted itself out. the seat actuators also became somewhat more functional, and the 'wheel too.
this leaves the hazard flasher issue, and at this point, gents (and perhaps ladies) what's up? i DO have one hint, that being the lighting around the radio and heating/cooling system seems to flicker up and down now and then. that's it!
sorry to be so verbose, but it's Sunday morning, rainy day, and that's that.
i hope i have navigated correctly..ay

Hey Ray,
thanks for the catch up post, nice one
Please bear in mind that this is the new members section and guys drop by here n there to welcome newbies aboard, so you're unlikely to get many more hits in this section.
I suggest that you copy the above catch up info into whichever section you feel is most relevant for your vehicle and post in there from now on.
That way you're likely to get the best responses and "meet" fellow owners of your model.
Enjoy the site Ray
