Hello from NY (and a beg for info!)
Hello all, from Albany NY area!
I've actually owned my XJS for about a year now, but there's been almost nothing wrong with it (and I haven't had a chance to put more than about 1k miles on it) so I hadn't gotten around to posting. I was far too busy fixing problems on my DD, a UrS4 (and there's still plenty left).
Anyway, the XJS is a '93 4.0, and apart from the leaking power steering and the issue I'll be asking for info on, nothing is wrong with it. Even the exterior condition is excellent, only one dent and a few specks in the paint. Here is the obligatory photo:

Anyway, the leaking power steering is an interesting issue, as it appears to be coming from either a seal between the actual rack and spool valve, or the lines in the spool valve casing. I snugged the line fittings up (some were really much looser than I would think appropriate), but haven't had a chance to drive it enough to see what change it's had.
The current issue is the rear diff. The PO kept meticulous service records, so I know the diff has been swapped once before. However, the thing is a total DOG off the line (like there's literally no difference in acceleration between 1/2 and full throttle until about 4k), and the speedometer is off by ~20%. I physically counted the rotations in the diff, and it looked to be about 2.75, so I set about finding what I thought was the appropriate diff, a 3.54 Powr-Lok. This is from the parts listings of my VIN in the part catalogues, but when I got a used diff from Welsh Enterprises... It measures about 3.0!
So, final consensus from actual knowledgeable people, WHAT is the factory final drive ratio for a 1993 XJS 4.0 Auto? 2.88 or 3.54?

It is quite a fleet, no two alike... And I don't put my father's cars on the list.
