Smile Hello from the Oregon

Hello, I'm Masood, a owner of a 1997 XJR, from Portland, OR. It was kind of spur of the moment; I take public transportation everywhere and hadn't had a car in two years.

I've always loved the shape of the older model Jags, and though my XJR is not a 'classic', they definitely used some styling cues from the old models that I love.

I purchased the full parts and service manual which I find quite daunting as I'm not mechanically saavy. My plan is to slowly start learning about and working on my car, starting with easier things like fluid changes see where I get from there.

There is some corrosion in some electrical panels; the body is in good shape, just some clearcoat wear on the roof and trunk. Runs well, probs need new starter and timing belt.

I hope to learn lots from you guys as I start this project. More post to come.

Sincerely,
Masood

Welcome to the forum Masood,

Some jokers will tell you it's good to be familiar with public transport when you drive a Jaguar but it's not true.

1997 was changeover year so yours could be a 6 cylinder X300 or a V8 X308. Follow this link XJ X300 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X300 section or this one XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the x308 section for help, advice and information.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region section by following this link Western US - AK CA NV OR UT HI WA ID - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham
