Hello from the Philippines - Fuel pump concern
Hi everyone. I'm new here and just purchased my first jaguar last month. It is a 2004 X-type 2.1L gas engine. Unfortunately, during my first long drive, It started to lose power and the gasoline didn't seem to be getting through. A mechanic looked at it and said it was the fuel pump. Now, I am trying to get a used pump from eBay and the only ones I can find are for 2.5L and 3.0L. Can I use these for my car? I am still very excited to own the car but will really need your help in getting it to properly run. Thanks in advance for your valuable assistance.
Welcome to the forums Mel,
Good to have you with us.
I had a look at the Parts Catalogue to see if there was a quick answer to this but there's LOTS of fuel pump options listed. Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the Other Areas Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/other-areas-43/ to find other members in your part of the World.
Enjoy the forums.

I checked ebay UK and found several listings for X-Type 2.1 fuel pumps. Here's an example:

There's a lot of useful information in the lister's description on matching your pump to the one you need to replace it. It sounds like you must have the part number off your old one to be sure of compatability.

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
I'm sorry it's already giving you trouble. I hope you get your fuel problem resolved soon.

Welcome. I would avoid a used pump, or no name pump from that famous auction site, if possible; the reason I mention this is that IIRC, there are no access panels under the rear seat on the X-type (unlike the S-type) and you have to drop the fuel tank to do the replacement...

Thank you Grant Francis! I figured they only offered the 2.5 and 3.0 in the US market. Will check other markets.

The X Type Tech Section will have the answers, but remember not all markets got the 2.1 V6 engine, mainly UK, Euro, Aust etc, and Ph.
Good luck.[/QUOTE]
