I have recently realized a lifelong dream ( nightmare) when I purchased an 87 XJ6 with really low miles in 8 out of 10 condition I was told by a restorer.
Got burned on my 1st one and now have an '86 with $5000 in new parts and a soft rear end sitting and melting into the tarmac.
I am new on here and am hoping to get some answers to common problems typical to jag owners...can you spell electrical!
I just had a new alternator and battery installed and took the cat for a run, battery light came on, alternator light came on, I am at a loss.Is this normal?
Should I buy a Toyota?

Welcome jaghag, buying those older jags ultimately come with greater commitment to keeping them running troublefree. There are some really knowledgeable XJ6 owners that will be happy to help and guide you. Take one problem or issue at a time and post it up in the appropriate section and get started. You may seem overwhelmed, and if that is the case and you cannot see the long term benifits, sell it off and buy a different car. If you have a love of the car and want to keep it for along time, then be patient and persistent in your pursuit.
We wish you luck!
