Welcome 87, you're not alone my friend. There are several XJ6 owners looking for advice on how to get their car up and running well. You bought it for the looks and style, now it's time to put some time, money and diligence into fixing what is ailing the poor girl. Alot of the work can be done DIY-wise, but if you don't have the ability to do it, do some hunting and find a good jag mechanic, either dealer or independent. Make sure they have experience in the older jags...they're totally different than the 'ford' generation.

Good luck with your investment. Only 7 years till auntique status. Bank $ 7000 for upkeep to perfect.

Well then, having a mechanic's background like yourself, you'll have no problem learning the subtle (and I mean that sarcastically, but confidently) differences. I have no doubt you will be able to get her fixed, just need to start that learning curve.
