Hi all
Hi everyone,
New member here, my second Jag (had a '71 XJ6 many years ago). My "new" one is an '08 XJ8L that I've been admiring for years (it belonged to my neighbor) with 74k miles; when he decided to sell it I couldn't resist.
The information available here made me feel a lot more comfortable about assessing the car's condition, and purchasing it - thank you for that to everyone who's contributed.
Currently, the car has two exterior temp monitoring systems - one displays in the climate control panel; the other is the amount of time that it takes for the leveling plausibility error to appear (anything below 32 degrees F and it's virtually instantaneous; above 44 degrees F it stays off). There doesn't appear to be any difference in the ride or how the suspension functions; according to the icarsoft there is a difference in the rear ride height from left to right, with the right being slightly higher. The right rear strut was replaced a few months before I bought the car - wondering if the suspension needs to be recalibrated at the dealer, and/or there's a temp-sensitive leak somewhere (picked up a bottle of leak check and will be finding out shortly).
Going to try to avoid the coilover solution - let's see how much patience I have for the ECAT's foibles

If you haven't already found your way there, someone will be along shortly to direct you to the correct section where you can find help for that leveling system.

Welcome to the forums SilverCat08,
Good to have you with us.
I can see you've already found your way to the X350 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Northeast Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-northeast-35/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
