Default Hi all, and question about XKR value

Hi all,

First post here, not a Jag guy really, but in the position of having one to sell from an estate. It's a 2001 XKR. When I look at prices around (sold on ebay, etc), sale prices are all over the map. Can you give me some guidance on finding a price point?

Pete

Welcome to the forums Pete,

Prices vary wildly because specification, condition and provenance do the same. A Convertible is worth more than a Coupe and a supercharged version worth more than the normally aspirated equivalent.

The ideal is one owner, low miles with a complete service history and a fat file of maintenance bills. In the case of a low miles Jaguar, that means a scheduled service every twelve months. With a 2001 you will be asked by a knowledgeable prospective purchaser whether the timing chains/tensioners have been replaced and if the transmission has had regular fluid and filter changes. This prolongs the unit life beyond around 70K miles but was never in the Jaguar service schedules.

Our US members wil be able to give you guide top and bottom prices. Use the above to decide where the one you have lies. Here in the UK a top example is worth around three times as much as a tired example. History and thorough examination by a marque expert is the only way to assess true value.

I was in the second hand car market for most of my life , the price and value will depend entirely on 3 things .
1) condition, is it near perfect.? Is it well used ? or is it rough?
2) market prices, check published adds for private sales and dealers .compare condition of vehicle for sale.
3) How quickly you want to sell !
I retired from the uk to New Zealand many years ago , the car market here is totally different but yet those three principles remain the same !
When I lived and worked in the middle East the principles were the same !
When I arrived here I quickly looked at the car market, Jaguars were not a popular car for many reasons, I bought a very nice s type at a bargain price because only toyota are really wanted here . So the 3 principles are the same. Good luck.
