HI Everyone!
Just bought myself a 1996 XJ6. I've always wanted a cat since I saw my first one in 1964; I think it was a '50's Mark I, a rather neglected black exterior with a red leather interior. What a classic shape! I still want one, but I doubt I could afford something in really decent condition. I can still remember the leather smell as a kid when I opened the door and climbed inside, and saw all the toggles and gauges. There was something very comforting and intuitive about the car, like it and I had some history, though I admit it must appear a little odd reading about the experience now.
My cat is carnival red with a beige interior. I will be posting some pictures of the car very soon. My past experience has been with muscle cars (Chev. 427) and 4Xdrive trucks and a BMW. Only a few days has shown me the difference in workmanship between the BMW and this cat, which is outstanding.
Well, thanks for taking the time to read my musings; hope to make a few acquaintances, learn a few things, and to make myself useful.

I guess I have to learn how to upload images. It seems that none of my pictures are able to be uploaded due to the image size. Back to the drawing board! Thanks, by the way, for the welcome and help. I look forward to sharing with everyone.
I guess I'm a little confused with the number descriptions. I have a non-supercharged six in the standard configuration (not Vanden plas) body. I guess it's a X300? Thanks for all the help!
Avatar is very striking! Sig details are perfect.
Jaguar model names are extremely unhelpful. An XJ6 can be anything from a 1969 Series I right through to a 2009 model.
Even Jaguar use their factory model codes to differentiate between the models. Your 1996 with the straight six 4.0 litre engine is an X300.
