Hi Everyone, new member...
Greetings all,
Well, lessee... where to start. I've lurked this forum for quite a while. I've made good use of info found here and DIY'ed to the tune of:
- Secondary Tensioners install (zip-tie method)
- Rear and front shocks install (bending subframe plate down to drop rear springs)
- Front shock bushings install.
- Water outlet pipe replacement (first thing I ever did to her I believe)
- Seat and center console replacement (just got a great deal ($260 USD) on a used set of AGD that a guy had stored away for 10 years... Craigslist find... awesome shape!)
- Broken driver's door control arm fix with fender washers.
- Master window switch replacement.
- Interior door handle replacement.
I'm sure there's many other small things I can't recall right now. Anyway, just thought I'd come out of the shadows and say thanks for all that. And hopefully, I can maybe even pass along some pointers/tips/tricks to others I have learned along the way.
Oh, ride is a 98 Minstral blue XJ8 4.0L (man. date 08/97) Nikasil, with 150,000 miles on the clock... noisy VVT, likes to tap on start-up. Plastic interior bits are showing their age. Needs ball joints. Paint is shot. I'm fixin' to take a major plunge and re-shoot the trunk, top and rear bumper. My brother has Jag dealer connections and I can get the correctly matched paint fairly painlessly. Never DIY'ed paint before, but what the hell, I can't make it look any worse than it does already.
She's been a daily driver for as long as I've had her (7 years)... wifey drives her now mostly, just in town, so we're keeping the miles in check. The seats and paint are just a little spruce-up reward for her (and us). She's been a pretty darn reliable car I must say.
Anyway, there ya go. My name is Keith. Greetingz!
