Hi folks
Newbie here.
Gatz is what I go by.
I look forward to being able to access the knowledge base on this site.
I have some questions about Jag front ends; does this mean in order to ask such questions, I must have already posted 10 times ?
Not sure how to interpret the New Users' "MUST READ" section about that.

Welcome to the forum gatz271,
Good to have you with us here at Jaguar forums.
You can post questions in the appropriate tech section immediately. There are a few restrictions on new members (such as setting up a forum 'garage') for which you'll need 3 Days membership and a minimum of 10 posts but posting questions in NOT one of the restrictions.
I can see from your profile you have a 1986 XJ6. This could be a late Series III or an early XJ40.....?
Follow this link XJ6 & XJ12 Series I, II & III - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ6 Series III section or this one XJ40 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ40 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Central Region section by following this link Central US - MT WY CO ND SD NE KS - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forum.

I don't want to mislead anyone, but as an " 86 XJ6 owner", that only means that I have an '86 front end assembly and am wanting to adapt parts of it (sans the crossmember; which is damaged) to another vehicle.
Hope that doesn't push me off the site, but I had to put something in for joining.
My first question is about the fasteners used in front-end a'y; are these British Whitworth or Am. SAE ? I'll be needing a few of the long Ø3/8 bolts that go through the lower shock mount and A-arm. Also, it appears that the 3 per side caliper mounting bolts are metric. Is this correct?
Where is a good place to get replacement upper & lower ball-joint seals (boots) & spindle seals? Does anyone make adapters for other-than-stock spindle seals?
Seems like a very narrow cross-section for the application.
Is there an online parts breakdown for the XJ6 front end?
What is the correct spindle nut torque for these? Finger-tight and then the next "keeper" notch ?
Any and all information is appreciated.
Thanks
Gatz

That still makes you a 'part owner'.
The best place to ask your questions is the appropriate tech section. Which model is the front end from? (see the alternatives for 1986 in my post #3 above)
