hi,im Bruce,fixing up a 93 xj6/xj40 (U.K.badge?}
Hello everyone...this seems to be a fantastic down to earth site where us enthusiaststs can find information on maintaining and repairing these fine cars which er love so much.
I recently bought a 93 xj6,straight 6, non turbo,automatic trans.
The battery died first day i bought it,purchased at low price of 1500 w/ abs anti lock,brake, and fuse warning lights on..thought it woud be an easy fix...
discovered during trickle charging that main abs fuse #30 had been removed...also,a positive lead may have hit ground post of battery...lost everything but radio code and fog lights...attery tested bad,un usable-i bought a new battery but am now desperately seeking advice on how to diagnose electrical and abs anti lock systems, locate main fuse,(all other fuses in boxes are intact-havent connected new battery,dont know if i should leave the abs main pump fuse OUT,in cace the pump was shorted to the frame,or perhasps the car just had better brake pedalw/ out the fuse/abs...
pedal was VERY FIRM when car was running,any tips would be hugely appreciated...in return,i plan to make a donation as soon as i can afford it,as well as share anything usefull i learn about diagnosing/repairing the electrical/abs systems on the vehicle..
i look forward to meeting you all, and welcome friend invites,im on as bruce.7142@yahoo.com ( messenger) if anyone is willing to help me learn how to navigate this,or other sites w/ any success,as im new to computers myself!
thanks to all of you, cant waitto get approved so i can get started,sincerely,
Bruce Summers

Welcome to the forum Bruce,
No donations here so you can put the $$ towards parts.
A few issues with the XJ40 but nothing that hasn't some up before.
Follow this link XJ40 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ40 section for help, advice and information. That is also the place to post your tech questions.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the Western US Region section by following this link Western US - AK CA NV OR UT HI WA ID - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Hope the XJ40 is soon running sweetly. Enjoy the forum.
(please use line breaks. A solid block of text is hard work to read.)
