Question Hi, new to forum

Hi, I am in Northamptonshire, England and have a x-type, petrol, 2.0ltr saloon, 52 plate (which i love).

Now I am not saying that I am a helpless female but I dont know that much about my car and would like to have a little know how.

My story is:- I took my car for an MOT and Service this Saturday and it apparently over heated whilst having its MOT and the raditor cap burst off covering the engine with water. Since then the engine management light is constantly on and the car will starting juddering whilst driving along. I have had the juddering problem before and had six spark plugs replaced in Feb this year. The diagnositc said that it was cylinder number 2. Is this an igntion coil or have I not got enough info from the diagnostic?

Thanks for looking.

Hello Wrongers, welcome to the forum.

I do not know about the 2.0ltr X Types, but I think you should get the codes off the vehicles computer. This would aid in diagnosis.

You might want to post your X Types problems in the X Type Section here as well, plenty of knowledgeable and helpful guys there. They should get you sorted quickly.

Enjoy all the site has to offer!

wrongers, get us the codes and I am sure we can get you taken care of. As for your heating issue, I would venture to guess you are suffering from the fan module fault. That will lead to overheating and what you are seeing. But, that is just a guess. Lets see what you can give us in the way of codes and then we can fix things from there.

Right, car has had a diagnostic check again today and following are the codes:-

P0171 System too lean Bank 1
P0174 System too lean Bank 2

The chap at the garage said it could be to do with the mixture but i dont think they were sure. I didnt mention in my last post but there is message that keeps coming up 'cruise control not available'.
