Hi all, I'm new to the forum obviously. But I have owned jaguar's in the past a xk8 then a x300 executive and most recently a 2010 XJL 3.0d portfolio (bought as a high mileage comfortable cruiser 146k miles). Unfortunately the xjl experienced what seems to be a common gearbox fault about a month after purchase!! Whenever 4th gear was engaged it lost all drive until shut down and restart. It became a very frequent annoyance sometimes every minute or so. This has been resolved now and wow I love it!! I'm a supercar/high end vehicle technician so I completed a gearbox change the other weekend replacing the faulty box (theres a receipt in the document folder for a gearbox supply and fit dated 2 years ago by a jaguar specialist) I managed to source a replacement 6 speed zf box from my goto place breaker link, with a 3 month warranty it cost 410 delivered removed from a 2014 xf @60k miles. I hope I become a helpful member of your forum I'm experienced with jlr vehicles from d types and e types right up to the latest models.
