Default HI !! New member from leighton buzzard...HELP...

Hi all, hope your all fault free with your cars...I finally own a jag my brother also has a jaguar xj8 with the conversion to a 4.2 v8 and we also own another jaguar sov 3.2 v8 2001 that we use for spares, now I own the executive xj8 3.2 2001, great car and lovely perlecent greeny colour, only it won't start lol, I know this is a very common issue as I have seen allot of threads about it, so I will start with what condition I brought it in,
Parked in the corner at a car dealers house covered in moss, my brother brought it for me for £500 as a project to bring it back to life, the dealer said it use to run but the battery died and now it won't start, so I trailered it home and begun diagnosis...I can smell fuel in the cylinders and I can hear the fuel pump hum away at the turn of the key, it cranks well and fast, but don't have a spark, so I changed the crank shaft sensor and still no spark, cleaned all earths, no change, checked each fuse and all are fine, changed all relays, still nothing, checked pin 1 and 4 on the coil plugs and there's power with ignision on or of, so changed all coils and still nothing, changed all spark plugs and still nothing, checked the big plug on the back of the bulk head and is very clean, swapped ecm and a small black unit under that and still nothing, every now and then when the battery gets low from cranking I get the fault codes on the dash saying Trac not available and some other things but goes away once iv re-charged the battery, iv read the fault code and only one comes up as p1000 but can't find any info on that, both key fobs UN lock and lock the car and I have 3 keys 1 being green and they all crank the car but still no spark, the car has done 140k with 2 former keepers and full jaguar service history,
Any advice from you guys would be much appreciated ..
Sorry if I posted my problem in the wrong area...
THANK YOU ALL
Matt

Welcome to the forum Matt,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Code P1000 = OnBoard monitoring tests not completed since last memory clear. You will always see either P1000 or P1111 (OnBoard monitoring tests completed).

The P1000 suggests you may not be the first person to try to get it going. The smell of fuel in the bores could indicate 'bore wash' which will prevent the engine from firing.

Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thanks for the welcome and advice,
I will add my info to my signature now thanks for the instructions to do it.

I only smell the fuel after half a min of cranking over or so,I think if I could just get the spark back I may be able to work the rest out, I'm just so confused that even after all the basics changed/checked it's still not sparking,
Thanks for the help I really appreciate it..
