Default Hi from Oz

Good morning all. Had a Jag 2002/3 4.2L S-type for 4 years now, try to do my own repairs as much as possible. Have finally put together the computer/software/battery maintainer and hope to both get advice and give what advice can.

Look forward to reading the forums

Hi cogitare; greetings and welcome aboard from a fellow Aussie ...

Suggest you drop by the Aus/NZ regional section ... we are your typical knockabout friendly lot and tend to use the model-specific forums here for our technical issues ... but use the Aus/NZ section to say "Hi" and swap more general stories and experience. Like most Aussies and Kiwis, we tend toward first name use - but certainly not mandatory - and as in any public forum, never broadcast full names, addresses, nor VINs - many use Private Message facility on forum.

I hail from the Coffs Coast area of NSW and have made good contacts and friendships with other Jag owners around about, but also from SA to QLD - nothing formal - just sharing a common interest. Many fellow S-Type owners here (different models, years, engines) ... as well as the full range of saloons and sports cars ... the beautiful classics that built the marque ... you name it. Our section can be quiet at times, but you will get a warm welcome.

So, welcome along. Start a "Hello" thread in the Aus/NZ section so we get to know a bit about you and your Jaguar - the princely V8 S-Type. You will join a merry band of us here - many of whom do their own spanner twirling - and there is a great willingness to share info. You have me intrigued already by your mention of "computer/software and battery maintainer" - the former being my career interest - the latter I currently need to keep my exquisite beastie in her tip top condition, so I welcome your recommendations.

Best wishes,
Ken

Sorry for taking an age to reply. I have just added a post re the ABS ECM removal. Tried to upload a guide but forum wouldn't accept. I am happy to try anything that doesn't require jacking/hoisting the vehicle. So far I've replaced the ABS ECM, Solar Sensor, mounted a leaper, and upgraded the audio to a double din touch screen unit, and reprogrammed my keys including replacing the internal switches. In addition to properly interrogate the vehicle you need a small but not very powerful laptop, $120 off Ebay, software - various suppliers, a Mongoose cable - original not crappy knock offs, and lots of time. You also need a good quality Battery maintainer otherwise the IT part of the process is likely to cause more issues than it solves. I can recommend several parts supplier in the UK to save time, money and hassle. My next focus is on outstanding errors on the IT side and investigating a transmission issue where it is often abrupt when moving off. Anyhow thanks for replying
