Default I'm New! 2004 XJ8

Hello everyone! I'm Nikki, a 36 year old psych student from MI. I had the chance to purchase my dream car last year, a 2004 Jaguar XJ8 and I jumped on it. It has been an experience owning a Jag and even though Nigel has been a bit pricey on the repairs and a touch finicky with who drives him, I'm never going back.

Unlike a lot of members here, I am not a fix-it kind of person. I know nothing about cars or mechanics, or electrical, etc. I am dependent on the good will of honest mechanics and since this is the first car I have ever exclusively owned, I am no good at judging honest mechanics. lol I will try not to be too annoying with my questions but know ahead of time, a lot of them are going to be about prices for repairs and the length certain things can go without being fixed before they cause more damage.

I look forward to interacting with all of you, getting to know some of you, and learning a lot in the process.

ROTFLOL @ your sig lines!!

Hello, Nikki,
Congratulations on your Very First Jaguar!
Yours is one of the few Jaguars I've heard of without a girl's name. That's OK though, because when they come to live with you, Jaguars tell you their name through telepathy while you're watching their beauty one day.

Someone will be along soon to direct you to the correct section where you can find all the advice you'll need to do battle with mechanics.

Although, I've found that if you learn a few buzz words and use them with confidence and respect they think you might actually know what you're talking about and they're more up front. But it's a game you must play with great care because if you make a stupid remark you lose all credibility and you're toast.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
