Default Intro

I'm obviously new to this forum, and wanted to say Hi. I'm in the process of buying a 1998 XJR. The prior owners are replacing the tensioners now. But, I just wanted to get a jump on learning about my new machine. I'm retired, and drove mundane company cars(Caprice Classic Stationwagons) while working. Since retiring I've owned a '94 BMW 325is, a '95 M3, currently a '90 911 C4, which I'm trying to sell. Really looking forward to getting in my XJR. Glad to be here.

Welcome to the forum twwestcott,

A big advantage having the tensioners replaced before you buy the XK8!

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-17/ to the to the XK8/XKR section for help and advice.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Default Thanks for welcome

Thanks and glad to be joining. Yes, the owner actually thought the tensioners were the metal ones because it was supercharged. I did some checking and told him I didn't think so. He said he would take it to the dealer to check, and later called to tell me they were plastic, and that he would change them at no additional charge to. Very lucky.

I will check out the regional. I want to find a good local mechanic.
