Default Intro from Northern California

Hello from Santa Rosa CA. Just bought a 1998 XK8 with about 83,000 on it. Needs a little work.
Stability Control Fail light os on
Top does not go down.
Consol has broken piece so that cup holder pops up like jack-in-the-box unexpectedly.
And somehow my left rear tail light broke last weekend, lens is cracked and bulb fail light is on. Did I back into someone? Did someone back into me? Vandalism in Tony Healdsburg?
Other than that everything is great!
Happy to be in forum.

All used cars need work. That's why they were sold/traded, because the Previous Owner didn't want to/couldn't properly care for them. Jaguars probably suffer most from this situation.

Welcome from ElinorB.

Default Thanks for the very welcoming welcome. Rag Top question.

Is there a regional group for the North San Francisco Bay Area?
Where is the best place to have a convertible top worked on in Sonoma County? I hooked up with the top guy in Florence, Oregon and he was very helpful.

Am I supposed to make 10 posts in 3 days or 3 posts in 10 days?

Default Testing convertible top relays and buying new ones

I tested my two convertible top relays and got over 90 ohms between terminals 1 and 2. Does that mean the coils are OK? If not, where is the best (quickest) place to order new relays? Jaguar LJA6707AA.
Thanks!

Default New XK8 owner lesson, key dropped under driver's seat

Whatever you do, don't drop your key under the right side of the driver's seat!

I did that in the Bev Mo parking lot today and had to call home for another key as it was almost impossible to retrieve. Finally fished it out at home from the front with a flash light coat hanger. Just by luck I hooked the little ring between the key and the fob. I recommend keeping a coat hanger or similar retrieval tool in the XK8 at all times.

Welcome rbhines
The color codes for your XK8 are located on the sticker inside the drivers door frame. Post them and someone here will translate them for you. As for the key, been there, ruined a nice pair of slacks trying to fish it out. My wife keeps the extra key in her purse now.

A late 'Welcome' to Jaguar Forums from me rbhines.

I've been away driving my Jaguar across Europe and had no internet access.
