Hello all!! I've been lurking around the XJS pages as an outsider for a while looking for the advice and experiences on owning an XJS.
I found all I needed and took the plunge and bought an '89 XJS for my wife. This has been her dream car since before she knew me.
I love working on mechanical machines! I love taking something that is "broke" and making it go. We found this girl on Craigslist and it was too good to pass up for sure. It has been sitting in a garage since 2011 and now it's in mine. Every hose and vacuum line are hard as a rock so one at a time, little by little, I'm going to go through her front to back and top to bottom make her young again. I owe it to Grant Francis and his sticky "Worksheet paper that might help many members" and his PDF "XJS Post Purchased Worksheet". Excellent read! 1989 Jaguar XJS V12
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Grant I believe I have the Lucas ignition in mine. I counted 13 HT wires.
On another note, I test drove this car before I bought it. It wasn’t running the best but it was running and driving. PO said they’d take it down and get ice cream from time to time and no highway driving. It smelled like gas… A LOT.
i went to count HT wires like Grant said and found this!
I don’t know why it didn’t erupt into a ball of flames. Thank God it didn’t! It literally fell apart as I removed the plug wires…
