Jaguar info / advice
Good afternoon from Bristol, Tennessee. Jumping into getting my first Jag and am looking presently at 2 candidates:
1. 1989 XJS v-12 with 130k
2. 2001 XK8 with 55k
I would sincerely appreciate any advice from any of the Jaguar ' gurus ' on this site. You are truly the smart ones!
Thanks loads.

Welcome to the Forums.
ANY advice will need to bebased on:
Do you get your hands dirty, or rely on someone else???
XJS, MUST BE DIY owner.
The XK8, not so much.
HEAPS of info in the related Tech Section for each choice.
Low mile V12, be careful, really careful, not so much with the V8.
I will say no more, wrong section for that.

Hello, William,
In your shoes I'd go for the newer Jag with fewer miles. Especially knowing what I know now, about how obstinate an XJS V-12 can be if it gets ticked off at its owner. And yes, these cars are more than just hunks of metal, they have personalities, a quality of Soul, and a temper!
It's an unusual person who can walk up to a strange XJS V-12, say, "How ya doin'?" and get along with it. Some people have had one for Years and still can't see eye to eye with their car or make it run correctly.
I'd look seriously at the Xk8, but I might not be the person to ask, as I decided long time ago that my Next Jaguar would be one of those.
