It is one of the more 'sensitve' models in the jaguar's lineup, probably partly why it is being discontinued starting in 2009. The first few years saw more than the average maintenance failures/issues for a new car model, probably resulting in the additional criticism from the reviewers. Later years, like all newcomers, had more of the serious issues worked out.

And, I think a lot of that thinking comes from the critics that have defined Jaguar a certain way and naturally resist change like all of us. More than any real criticisms I hear "it's not a real Jaguar."

Critics and old time Jaguar owners just don't want Jaguar to have a 318 sized car.

It denies access to certain parts of the car. I know the earlier cars better. With those it would not open the glovebox or trunk. Only worked for door and ignition.
