Greetings: I am enjoying my newly acquired '05 X-Type 3.0. I purchased it used 6 months ago. I purchased the car since I have a home in the mountains and also live near the beach with clients to shuttle now and then. The AWD is for the winter's in the mountains and the Black/Black is for feel good for me and clients. I also have an SUV for the heavier weather and hauling. I have replaced the headlights, installed H&R rear springs to make the ride height level and installed new Bilstein shocks, a battery and starter motor.

I have two questions today:
1) The headlight switch automatic-on/off position does not work sometimes.
2) The check engine light is intermittent and some how related is that the car pings sometimes on 91 octane. If I add 3gal of 100 octane the pinging stops. But when the tank empties to less than half the pinging may start again, regardless of the octane.

Any thoughts?

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
