I just discovered this site. Not that many forums that include the XK models that I have run into. I've been on the "Jag-lovers forum" for years but have always found it to one of the most difficult to navigate forums around...

Anyway, been around Jags almost my entire 60 years. My Dad picked up a 53 120 coupe in around 1955. It was a very odd car in that it had a 2 speed automatic with a floor shifter installed by the previous owner.
I remember traveling in it with my Mom, Dad, and big brother sitting on the seats and me laying on the shelf behind the seats in front of the rear window.
Cool huh!

Anyway in '57 he sold the 120 and bought a new 1956 XK140 MC roadster.
He drove that to work for the next 14 years. At that time he also had a MkII so he took the 140 off the road so we would be able to do some much needed work on it.

About that time I was in high school and had the urge so I bought a pretty ratty '58 150 coupe for $800. Spent a year getting the 150 as nice as I could afford. Did a valve job, timing chains, rod bearings and E-type oil pump. Then body work, paint, and seats. Looked good, ran great, and would generally embarrass my classmates with their '55 - '57 Chevys in the stoplight Gran-Prix that were so common.....

Anyway..Dad and I spent some quality time working on the 140 and got it looking pretty nice. Unfortunately, cancer got a hold of him.
A month before he died, he handed me the title on my birthday...

I still have the car nearly 40 years later.

I haven't driven the car in a lot of years but it still runs and is still presentable. Several years ago I went to move it and the brakes were locked up. I replaced all the hydraulics but it still doesn't stop correctly. I also live on the top of a damn steep hill so.....it hasn't been on the street since.

Anyway, I have more "Jag " adventures from my youth that I can ever remember...

So, that's at least good enough for an introduction I hope...

Here are a couple pics, one of me from back in the day and a current pic...

Welcome to the forum GWUISTER,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums and thanks for the interesting Intro.

Got to get those brakes fixed. It's a great shame not to have the XK140 on the road
with all that family history.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
