Default Jaguar Xtype 2003 Engine Knocking Noise

Greetings! New member here. I checked out this Jaguar xtype 2003 today and was meaning to buy it. However, when I turned the engine on, there was a loud knocking noise from the engine that would not stop. What could be the cause for this? Will this entail a significant amount of cost for repairs if I proceed to buying the unit? Thanks for the help.

(I took a video of this today. I wanted to upload it here but since I am a newbie I'm still navigating the forum.)

Best regards,

DV

Welcome to the Forums.

Generally a knock noise in an engine that doe not stop is terminal.

The members in the X Type (X400) Tech Section will have more advice.

Hello, DV,
If I was thinking of buying a car, Any car, and the engine made Knocking Noises upon starting like you describe, I would walk quickly to the nearest exit.

I would certainly NOT plunk down my heard earned, Unless I knew the car and what its exact problem was, and I had a spare engine in the corner of the shop and knew Exactly what all was involved in changing said engine. Otherwise, you could be in for a Very large repair bill starting with a large number followed by a whole lot of Zeros.

Engines should Not make any strange noises. Especially not loud knocking ones.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums DVSarino,

You cannot UPLOAD video to the forums. The only way is to post a LINK to a video on YouTube etc.

I would walk away from a Jaguar with an engine knock.
