Default 2003 X-Type

Hello All,

Recently purchased a 2003 Xtype with an engine knock. I'm in the process of pulling the engine so joined the forum to benefit from others experiences posted here. I have already picked up some good tips. I'm located in the US in Washington State. I'm really a Ford man so the X-type is a good gradual introduction to the Jaguar.

Thanks guys.

welcome aboard dstolp....as you say a good intro to Jaguar as the X and Ford Mondeo ( might be the contour where you are, unsure ) share more than a few parts!
I've had more than my fair share of Fords in the past and can't understand a lot of the criticisms that seem to come from the US about them. We still love the brand in the UK.
Hope you enjoy the site

Hi, Welcome!

The X is a nice start into the wonderful world of Jaguar. As said, you'll find the engine a Ford Duratec which was used in a lot of US Ford models, most common of which is the Taurus. There are component differences to the Duratec used in the X. Different heads, VVT, Variable intake timing ports, etc.

Hope to see you over in the X section of the forum

Best,

Thanks for all the welcomes. Took a long time to get the crank back but the engine is back together and ready to be installed.

dstolp, what engine do you have, the 2.5? (Perhaps that is the only engine offered in that model, it's what I have in my 2003 X-type. I'm not up too much on the marque just yet). I have recently suffered the A/C clutch drop-off syndrome, and will keep posted on what I do about it. Meanwhile, since I have other cars available and not a lot of free cash, this one is sitting the summer out in my garage.
