Hi all, I've fallen for the 2003-06? Jaguar X-type. Currently searching for the right one to call my own. I'm set on White or Black(preferred), less than 100k, and 3.0 motor. Formerly an owner of 2 different MR2's(2nd gen.) - RX7's(2nd gen) and 240's(both 1993 coupes). I just recently had a baby boy and so I'm looking for a grown up car to go along with my grown up(yeah right) attitude. The Jag is just sexy and sporty enough to fill the hole in my heart left from too many fun cars... I no longer have. Glad we had this chat. See you around the forums !- Woody

Hi Zatara

Well, you have fallen for a stylish and elegant make of car. Here in the UK there are thousands and thousands of X-types running around, so all those owners can't be wrong !! Main thing is to buy a car with a proven service record, the mileage is less important than correct servicing at the defined intervals. The 3 litre uses the US Ford engine, with All wheel drive.

All the Best,

Hey, zatara, welcome.
I have a 2003 X-type, black. It really looks good. It has the 2.5 engine and I agree the 3.0 might be moderately better. My brother has a 2004 golden colored X-type with the 3.0.

You might look on-line at some high-end used car dealers that deal almost exclusively on-line. For instance, I have purchased a 2001 BMW 325 (black) from Texas Direct Auto in Houston, and I got my 2003 X-type from Texas Cars Direct in Dallas. Both were really good deals. The BMW is a better performer, but the X-type is rarer and most people think it costs a fortune because it's a Jaguar. When I tell them I found it for $13k with 30k miles, they can't believe it. BTW, it's actually my wife who finds our cars on-line. She's got the patience to search it out, and she's pretty good at it.
