Hello, John,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar XJR!
It's not surprising that a car over 20 years old should need some attention. Especially if the Previous Owner got bored and let things slide.
But that's where you have an opportunity to make a Really Great Car out of an ok car.
Give it all the attention it needs, and you'll learn how to make it happy. In return, it will run happily for you for another 20 years.
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
