Question Just Joined But.............

...........the jury is out on my 09 X-type 2.2D Auto right now. 'bought it 8 months ago from a main dealer and already it has had 2 unscheduled repairs (doorlock and EGR valve). Now I've just found an inner alloy wheel rim (Barbados) dented about 3mm deep by 80 mm long (chord). For sure we did not do this so I am absolutely staggered that an Approved Used Jag is allowed out in this condition. What do others think please?

Welcome to the forum Redcat09,

Sorry to hear you've had issues with your X-Type but presume the dealer will have taken care of the doorlock and EGR valve?

I see you've posted your question about the wheel in the tech section. Rim damage is an occasional topic here and I'm sure you'll get opinions.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

Unhappy Dented wheel

Yes my local dealer fixed the door lock under wty and the EGR valve was apparently a known goodwill fault anyway. Regrettably both events took return trips due to shoddy workmanship; surprising when Jag dealers usually rated highly in surveys. My initial investigations reveal that local wheel repairers 'get 100's of Jag wheels due to soft alloy used' which is a worry. Frankly I am not yet convinced of the safety of unbending a rim, which brings me back to my main point - what are Jag doing shipping out approved used cars with square wheels?! Odd IMHO and a pity as the car suits us well otherwise.
