Default Just joined - from NSW Australia

Hi,
I am pretty sure that I already found some good advise here in the past. Now I thought, it's time to join and become a member myself - who knows - maybe I can give some advise as well. I collect and fix Jags. I am located in NSW, Australia, i.e. my Jags are all RHD. For 18 month I even worked as Design Engineer in Coventry with the X400-design team (X-Type). I did the electrical design of some of the switches, mainly the light switch is all it's variations. And a funny one: If I would not have spotted, what the Ford CD132-team is doing, they would have implemented a short-cut by design in the wiper stalk switch...
Cheers, Peter

That's part of my collection: Identical S-Type in front and back, plus Sovereign XJ8 (left) and X-Type (right), and a '97 Ford Fairlane (red)

Hello, Peter,
All it takes is ONE sharp-eyed, thinking person to stop a potential corporate recall disaster.
They should have given you a medal for that catch.

Welcome to the forums form ElinorB.

Hi Elinor, thanks. And I just noticed that I used the wrong term above: Not "short-cut", but "short circuit" by design... First I asked them to fix their electrical drawings, they still did not see the mistake, then it turned out, the drawings are fine, the parts are wrong (in line with drawings, and it was basically 5 PAST 12...

Thanks Jim,

I have just posted a question in the NSW section relating to a newsfeed I found today: SA's new definition of a historic vehicle is older than 25 years - and 90 days of driving p.a. I just wonder. if NSW plans anything similar...

Cheers, Peter

Thanks, Steve,
you have an XK8. It was pretty much the time when I was working at Jaguar in Coventry (1998) that I started to notice Jags more. When working there for 18 month I kept my place in Germany and commuted every month over to Germany - mainly to fill my water tanks with mineral drinking water (something which I don't think they have in GB, but definitely not in Australia) to last me for a month. Anyway, "commuting" meant crossing the channel - I used all methods: Hovercraft (with my car - that Hovercraft service does not exist anymore), ship and tunnel. And back to your XK8: At one time on the train in the tunnel I could enjoy the sight of a XK8 parked in front of me in the car-train.
Cheers, Peter

Hi Jim, You gave me that link to the NSW section of the Jag forum,,, I just wonder: Is there somewhere a marketplace section (i.e. where I can offer parts for sale) for Australia only? The standard marketplace section is worldwide and mainly USA... And on 14-8-2022 I posted on the NSW site a question, if anyone knows something if NSW (like SA) would reduce the official age of a historic vehicle from 30 to 25 years - no one replied and after my post there was only 1 person posting something else. Thus, not very frequented this NSW section - is there somewhere an Australian section? Cheers, Peter (Btw;: I wrote to my local MP regarding that idea of 25 years for a hist. vehicle for NSW - if anyone reads this, and they would also write to their local MP, the chances might be better...
