Welcome to the forum Nas187,

Not good news. Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XJ8/XJR section for help and advice.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User ID button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You might also want to visit the Canada Region section by following this link Canada, Mexico, South America - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Good luck with the SC fix. Enjoy the forum.

Welcome to this friendly Forum.
Don't run the engine again.
It may be the secondary timing chain tensioners.
You'll find some info in the stickies for your car XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
and you'll find more detail here primary-and-secondary-tensioner-replacement-xj-xk8-xkr.pdf

Dear Nas187 - As I also have a problem with a "knocking sound" on my XK8 from 1999 - please listen to my videos and tell me if the sound is similar??!!

I don't know what a s/cu is - but my servicerepair tells me it is the VTC - but they are not sure - I have had 5 different mechanics to have a look - and they more or less comes up with different answers. Anyway - please tell me what a s/cu us and let me know about the sound. The VTC is a 1000 $ spare-part and the repair time is around 12 hours.

Brgds

Niels Juul-Jensen

PS.: What a pity that Jaguar International doesn't make a pride in giving answers on these forums - they must have experienced mechanics that have been around!!!

Thanks in advance
