Default Long time Jag Enthusiast, first time owner

Hello All, David here. I recently purchased a 1997 XK8 that is going to be completely restored. Car interior has seen better days but everything is fixable. The car will be a gift to my 14 year old daughter when she turns 16.
About me, I am an Electrical Engineer, business owner and avid DIYer. I live near St. Louis but on the Illinois side.
I want to complement the forum members on an informative website - lots of good information here that will help all Jag owners.

Hello, David,
When I turned 16 I had a cheap little Chevy which I drove the wheels off.

I can only Imagine your daughter's delight when presented with an XK8!! You'll be driving the boys off with a Big Stick!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Default Thank you LnrB

Yes my daughter(s) and my wife will be surprised. I keep the car at my office/workshop and tinker with as time permits. It has been tough keeping the secret but I really want it to be a surprise.
My first real car was a 1972 Volvo 142 which I built up myself in 1986 out of used parts on a shoe string budget. Kids today have it much better.

Thank you Daf11e -
I love Australia - had a ball in King Cross in 1996, before I was married...
I don't know if you will find this funny or not but I have an Englishman friend that met a girl from Perth and married her. He was emigrating to Australia and when asked by the immigration officer if he had a criminal record, he responded "I thought is was no longer a requirement"
Cheers

Welcome.

I agree with that criminal record statement, and I bet the immigration guy had no idea of what he was referring to.

Lucky daughter.

Mine got an XJ40, and the son a S2 V12. After that they were on their one as far as car choices goes.
