Default Looking For A Perfect XF Premium 2010-2012

It's time to get my young wife a 4 door car and sell her G35 coupe. We feel that Infiniti cars aren't as luxurious as their price tags, cheap leather and plastic everything.
We've been doing our research and have our hearts set on picking up a 2010-12 XF Premium possibly with the Portfolio Package. The more we look the more questions we have. The price difference for a 2012 with under 20k miles over a 2010 isn't very much so, we're thinking we want a 2012 for resale value, better interest rate and the newer headlights. It has to have the 385hp 5.0l over the 300hp version. We like having power. Any thoughts on what to look for?
We test drove a 2010 XF Premium at a local dealership. I opened the hoods while the 2 cars they had were running. The engines sounded like sewing machines, is this normal? They were off lease Jaguar Certified cars. Is it something to do with the variable valve timing. They sounded like they were ran at 10k RPM's all day since new on 87 octane and low oil.
Any buying tips would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum 2000s2,

With any used Jaguars, I always thoroughly check the service history of the vehicle and the PO.

Follow this link XF and XFR ( X250 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the XF/XFR section for help, advice and information. I'm sure members there will have opinions and recommendations on 2010 versus 2012.

You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region section by following this link Lower Atlantic - NC SC FL GA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy your search for the perfect XF and enjoy the forum.

Graham

These questions are best asked in XF/XFR tech section. Do you want me to move this post to XF/XFR section for you?
