Default In NC. I bought new a 97 VDP.....

...that has a couple issues I'd have to show you I suspect.
The topic of this question is not one of them: my stock radio/cassette etc will not turn off except by random luck after dozens & dozen of tries. If a tape is playing - it keeps playing.Fun/huh?
I have a feeling this will be a simple answer that I'll hate myself over but go ahead. Let me have it

Welcome to the forum paintcan,

Good to have you here with us at Jaguar forums.

You are pushing the volume control knob and not rotating it to try to turn the radio/cassette off?

Is that a late straight six X300 or an early V8 X308? Both were manufactured in 1997. Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 section or this one XJ X300 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X300 section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Lower Atlantic Region section by following this link Lower Atlantic - NC SC FL GA - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forum.

Graham

I push the knob. Haven't used system in forever but I think that's right.

The straight six was the last before Ford put in the V8 in 98 do over.
I have the last of old style dash.
