Hi, what a great resource this forum is! I just bought my first Jag, a 2001 XK8 Convertible, blue on blue with white leather interior. Feels like a great car, but it came with some baggage The hydraulic fluid is very low in the pump reservoir, so I guess I need to pull the pump and find the leak. Hopefully its not in the lines somewhere. And the valve cover gaskets seem to be leaking a bit of oil, there's some burnoff after I drive for a bit and come to a stop - I can see a bit of smoke waff up through the lid, and smell the oil burn off the manifolds I guess. Hopefully nothing too serious . I'll dig around a bit to findout how other's have addressed these issues. Where can I go to order parts? I live in Eastern Washington, USA. Thanks in advance for any tips!

Scott

Welcome to the forum Scott,

Good to have you with us.
You'll find plenty of reading in the XK8/R section, there are a few common problems you
need to be aware of.

You should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Welcome Scott,

Norri's pointed you in the right direction for info.

There's a few weaknesses on the XK8 you need to check out. Hydraulic fluid is definitely one of them as you've already found out.

Oil leak from the covers is also common but easily fixed and a nuisance rather than a problem. Look for details on the LS equivalent seals which will save you $$ over the Jaguar parts.
