Default A new 2008 XKR CONVERTIBLE owner.

Hello everyone,
Here is Aurelien, a French interior architect with a weakness for everything beautiful. Therefore all that lead me to a wonderfull XKR convertible from 2008 with the color combo I allways cherished from my childhood and which is, to me the epitome of British cars(with a B). : British Racing green (well, officially called Botanical green at that time)and "Caramel" interior (which to me is more of a Cream color).
As a kid I spent thousands of hours learning about cars and visiting occasionally the Mondial de l'automobile in Paris with my dad ,I had an unbelievable luck trying the most beautifull cars of this time. I specially remember as a kid when I had the chance to test(as a passenger though) a Bugatti EB110.
Anyway, all this went to sleep for a few years after I enjoyed a Saab 9.3 Convertible (scarab green+ cream) as I left France to study in the UK .
For years I lived in Paris and everyone here knows how the socialists turned the City against car lovers, but after 3 years in the countryside I decided no more dangerous and dirty underground, and to get back to freedom of move with my bycicle and a car.
I definitely needed a convertible as to me they are freedom and makes you love road congestions.
Starting to look at the suddenly turned incredibly costy Fiat500 (Which I love even though my 6'5" are a little squeezed in it),i ended up with the evidence from the beginning... The Jaguar.
Between, I tried Mercedes SLs, Porsche Boxsters, SLKs ... But none of them met my needs in term of interior space, design that would not scream " hey look at me I'm a manly man" or "hey look, i'm rich", or driving pleasure that is "capable" without stressing you.
Then I discovered the Jaguar, that I didn't even thought I could get, is excessively underpriced on the used market. And tried...And loved.
When I saw her in the parking after delivery, I had tears on my chicks while caressing her as her curves and such a beauty moved me like I am in front of a great sculpture

So all, in all, and , I must say, thanks to you forum members , that I avidly read for the last 3 months, I'm now one of yours, with a deep deep emotion, thinking about my dad up there, who would have been so proud of his son getting a Jag (and a BRG/cream one).

Looking toward improving her and keeping her for years as I truly believed it'll be a collector within the next 15years, I plan to start with the media system,I'll have also to have the leather side panels re-glued and all what a 15 years old lady need to keep her beauty and hope you'll all help me to do so.

Welcome to the forums Aurelien,

Green was a rare choice with original buyers. I see a few XK's on the road but have never seen another BRG. Despite this, I'm often told by complete strangers just how good it looks!

As you've already found your way to the X150 forum, there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the Europe Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Hello, Aurelien,
Congratulations on your First Jaguar XKR!
You do wax poetic about this car, don't you. I actually understand that. More than you might think!

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
