Default New Brit had a great experience with y'all already!

Hi folks,

Just to say that I'm new here, but after just one post in which my problem was resolved, I'm a total fan! I've already noticed that there are some really well-informed people contributing, and it seems like there's nothing that some of you don't know all about...what a great free resource!

Mine's a 98 XJ8, 4.0litre, Sapphire over Oatmeal, which I've had since she was a two-year old, with 123000 miles on her now, and still going like a dream. Not worth very much here nowadays, so I think I'm likely to be keeping her forever! I have a holiday home in southwest France and she takes me there regularly (about 650 miles) without missing a beat, and she really turns heads, even now, since in rural France theyrarely get to see Jaguars. I'm never parked very long in a supermarket car park there before someone will come over to admire and ask all about it, which is nice.

This one is my fifth XJ, I started with an X300, 2.9 manual (one of the first launch models),back in the mid-80's, as a company car,and italmost put me off the marque! However, the love affair just strengthened, and although I tried Mercedes E Class a couple of times, I found I just wanted to be back in an XJ, so when I left employment I just went straight to the local dealer and bought this beauty.

I look forward to keeping tabs on everything, and will post some pics when I figure out how to get my photos into the post (only managed an attachment so far), since they seem to be"too big" for the system at the moment.

Meanwhile, fantastic result this week for all you US folk...it's going to be an interesting New Year I think. Everyone over here I talk to is very excited by it.

Be keeping in touch.

All the best to all, especially those who helped me out with my recent problem.

Peter

Welcome to the site Peter! Your longterm experience with the marque is very inspiring. I bought my first two used jags last year (2000S and 2004XJ8) They both had low miles. The 2000 S my wife drives is Sapphire blue over Ivory, looks great and has only 64K on the OD. My XJ is a black beauty with sand interior and has 59K on the OD. I have had nearly all new, leased vehicles in the past and was rather nervous about these purchases, but I purchased extended warrantees on them both and have had no real problems with either one. There is just something special about these cars!

Again, welcome!

Hi twojags,

I'm in Surrey. I came across the Surrey chapter of the Jag Enthusiaists Club recently, and went along to a Sunday lunch social. I won't be joining them..... enough said! So I thought all you cyber Jag-lovers would make a good substitute....and it seems you're all very welcoming.

Nice to chat to you all. By the way, what's with all the man-pics on that thread? It looks like somebody's been raiding Gay internet sites!! Nice wheels pics from you though!

(p.s. I'm not sure I'd count as a"stud", as Force spluttered, either...!!)

Don't worry, if you were a "stud" the gals on here would just traffic your pic around the internet!

(There is a great bunch of people here.)

Hi Peter,

Im a member of the Bucks and Herts JEC and I know the main board as well. Try another region and some are very friendly. But this site is very friendly too.

Us girlies like to see men on jaguars as much as you men like to see women on Jaguars, they are very fair on this site too.

Thanks about my wheels, they are good cars although the old Mk9 is in bits in the garage at the moment, water got in the fuel tank and has gone through the system! [&:]

Just because Force is a British stud living in America together with an unwanted visitor under his house, but thats another story!

Twojags...
