Default ? Sumitomo HTR Z II tire experience ?

I am looking to improve steering response on my XJ6, and it seems replacing my H rated Yokohama Yk520 is the first step. The only thing in stock at Tire Rack are the Sumitomo HTR Z II (W rated) tires. Anyone have any experience with these?

My top priority is to make city driving and the occasional canyon run more exciting. Flat spotting overnight is a deal killer, 50% of my driving is under 10 minutes. I've already scoured prior threads. Thanks!

Having been in the tire & wheel business for years previously, those are quite decent tires for the price, I wouldn't say premium by any means but great for the money. Check out Toyo tires at a local shop. Toyo tires are awesome and a great value.

I ran Sumitomo HTR Z IIs on my XKR briefly before trading it. I was very impressed during this time. They were also very quiet.

I have had the Sumitomo HTR A/S P01's in 225/60/16 for two years and like them alot. When we had the record winter in Boston last year, I got another set of wheels and put Goodyear snow tires on and the car was like a tank. The A/S are fine for occasional snow amd they are good dry and wet. Now that I have the dedicated snows again, I would not hesitate to use the HTR Z II's. Another option are the BFG Advantage TA's

I have the very different HTR ZIIIs on mine and they are quite nice as a summer tire. Not sure if going back a generation to the ZII would lose much apart from the directional nature of the tire, but it sounds like most people approve of them.
