Howdy All,

I've been an XK8 and XKR owner going back to about 2000. First was an XK8 Coupe then my current bespoke 2003.5 XKR Coupe 4.2.
My wife has a 4.2 S-Type.

I do all maintenance and repair on both cars, mostly because San Diego has a history of problems with Jag dealers--including the one-time only dealer going out of business and leaving us with the nearest dealer about 85 miles away for a few years. I'm also a perfectionist and like things done right the first time.

I've worked on and owned Jags starting in 1962, and so have gained a fair amount of experience with them.

Other than keeping them running well, my primary interest has been developing performance enhancements for the XK8/XKR series. Some of you may already be familiar with the exhaust (MacLeod X-Pipe series) & intake systems (101 mm free flow), twin-screw supercharger (Kenne-Bell) adaptation and limited slip differential (OS Giken) development I've done going back to 2004. My intent has always been to create something for my own car and then share it with others if they were interested.

Some other forum members who've known me for about a decade from the old Roadfly and MaxPerformanceCars forums, made me aware of this forum and encouraged me to join. So, here I am, looking to learn more and hopefully be able to share what I know and support those in need if I'm able.

My other primary interest is flying. I've been a pilot for 50 years and own three aircraft: two WW II--a 450 hp Stearman & an SNJ-5B--and a Lancair IV Turbo.

Welcome, although I'm up in L.A., I'm down in San Diego on a regular basis (and lived there for a year 40 years ago when in grad school), even hosted an event last month for S.D. Jaguar owners at our restaurant in Coronado. I'd be interested in learning about some of your exhaust and supercharger mods. This forum is incredible and has helped me diagnose problems on my XKR throughout the time I've owned it. Again, welcome!

Thank you, Graham, and everybody else for the warm welcome. I wish I'd know about this site years ago.
I've been looking back over old posts and see there is much I could have learned or contributed to in the past. I may go ahead and respond to some of them if it looks like I may be able to still add something relevant.
I'm a lot more comfortable with a wrench (wench, too :-) ) in my hands than a computer and will probably be asking for help to navigate through the forum site to learn how to use it.
Please be patient with me.
Thanks,
Bill

Hi Ted,

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Looks like we have a lot of common interests.

I'm very sorry I missed the dinner here in SD.

I have a couple of hangars at Gillespie Field in El Cajon, where I keep the planes and work on the cars. My XKR is currently sitting in one getting a new intake system, gauges in the dash and an upgraded Laser Jammer installation.

Let me know when you next plan on coming south and perhaps we can get together.

Bill

Bill-

I am delighted that you have joined us here!

Although I came later to the game in 2010, I had read through many of the early postings on Roadfly and Maxperformance. You will definitely be an asset to this great group we have now.

Welcome to this forum. Your name was somewhat legendary by virtue of the other forums you mentioned and I recall frequent posts from others asking "what ever happened to SanDiegoMac"?

Welcome! Nice to see another two-cat family. We are the opposite of your cars here with my wife driving the XK8 and I pilot the S-Type R.
