Unhappy New to the forum and clueless about my Jag

Hi, all,
I own a 95 XJS convertible and absolutely love it. I really enjoy driving it. I only drive it on weekends in the summer but while it runs well, I was told it has major problems (leaks transmission fluid and the engine burns oil - it was suggested that I replace the engine...) I joined this forum to have a place to ask some questions but you all gotta keep it simple for me...I know nothing about cars but I really want to keep my baby running.

Welcome. I think you'll find all you need to know here. Check into the XJ forum.

Have fun, you have a nice car. Maybe create a signature to etll us more about your car, the milage etc as well as adding your location. Maybe you will find a new friend close by with tools.

five10:
I impulse-bought my '91 the same day I moved to a new city - having to drive it there that night thinking all the way, 'what have I done?!' And it's been love ever since. You'll eventually learn a lot more about your car that you ever thought you could; and this forum will certainly be a resource for that.
Cheers!
Scott

Welcome to the forum,

Plenty of folks here to steer you in the right direction if you can give them enough information.

Well I have a 95 XJS convertible, V6. I noticed after it sat over the winter that it was leaking transmission fluid. And when I took it to Carmax to have it checked cuz the only local Jag shop closed they told me the engine was burning oil and I needed to replace it. I recently drove it for an hour and it performs just fine. Definitely don't have $ to have the suggested work done. Does anybody have any thought on that? Would it be better to have it checked over by someone who works on Jags to get reliable info? Thx!

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
